There is *something* very strange going on behind the scenes in Fall and this is one possible explanation for it. And I rather like the Occam's Razor approach that there's only one bad guy in Lestrade's division, because I don't think Moriarty would be able to just smuggle an assassin into Scotland Yard.
Of course the real question is whether Mycroft also knows about the assassins targetting John and Mrs Hudson and is just keeping quiet about them to guilt-trip Lestrade further. (I thought I wanted a fic with an unsympathetic Mycroft for once).
